My road trip last week to San Francisco was awesome! I thank my boyfriend, Kelvin, for driving us all the way from Vancouver heheheheee. We could have easily flown there but i think road trips are more interesting because you get to see more (especially the landscapes!)
I'll be mainly showing you the photos from the trip but i did take a few short video clips along the way so i might post that up next week hehe when Kelvin sends them to me.
If i remember correctly it was really cheap haha (as expected) about $5.99 or so for roughly 15 fish nuggets? Something like that xD;
// Journey to the South:
San Francisco, California
A 7 day trip down and back again....
Where do i start? Let's start with McDonald's. As were were passing Seattle we couldn't help but see advertisements every few blocks...literally EVERYWHERE about McDonald's new "Fish McBites". We were pretty curious because in Canada we don't often see new product launches to McDonald's regular menu. I rarely ever have McDonald's. Come to think of it.... before trying the Fish McBites i haven't had McDonald's in roughly 3 years.
We were also very shocked to see... 20 McChicken Nuggets for $4.99 ?!?!?!!!! WHAT? In Canada... to get even 6 pieces will cost you more than that haha... so we ended up buying both McNuggets and Fish McBites to try.
Regret.
Regret.
QuQ I ate 2 pieces of Fish McBites and 1 piece of chicken McNuggets... my stomach couldn't handle it and i had to stop. For some reason when i eat food.. if there is too much oil in what i eat my body will automatically stop me... making me feel sick instantly "orz. I guess i was not used to having McDonald's so i couldn't eat much of it. I was so sad... could only watch Kelvin eat everything Q^Q ;; He ate most of it haha.
*$699-$899 $ 289!!! & no tax!
Along the way i tried out "Jamba Juice". There were many locations across America and i ended up going there at least 4 times throughout the road trip haha. It is very similar to what we have in Vancouver, Jugo Juice, which sells healthy fruit drinks! Super yummy~
Landscape while driving to Portland..
We went to the no tax outlets in Portland hehe~ I always heard a lot from my friends who went and they said there was really good shopping. For me, however, i found that the outlets were just 'okay' and surprisingly i think i prefer the Seattle premium outlets better if you are looking for good brands and good deals. I actually enjoyed shopping in the downtown Portland area better hehe~
There was a giant treehouse in Portland hehe...
Finally, San Francisco!!
The famous Golden Gate Bridge of San Francisco! ♥♥ It was a must to drive across it hehe...
[ Sotto Mare ]
We ate dinner at a small Italian restaurant called "Sotto Mare". Kelvin suggested it after reading good reviews on it online... and he was right! The place was amazing! I loved the atmosphere... everyone was so happy and friendly! It is a family owned restaurant~ We enjoyed one of the staff playing the accordion hehe~ For a small place, there was a lot of people. The food... oh my goodness the food was amazing! WE LOVED IT! I recommend it to anyone and everyone who plans to go to San Fran!~ They specialize in Seafood and pasta dishes... super yummy! Must try~~
The "Seafood Cioppino" is AMAZING. Highly recommend it!! :)
We ordered so much food... quite embarrassing because we took up so much space haha "orz.. We love love love seafood and since we knew we were going to be here only for a short period of time we decided to try out whichever looked good. Everything we ordered was tasty ^^ ~ Seafood Cioppino, Steamed mussels, Clam Soup, Seafood House Pasta ...mm.. i will miss it!
♥♥♥♥♥ hearts!
After such a long time of not eating my usual Asian dishes... i was really craving 糖水 .. Traditional Chinese dessert haha~ I know it might seem silly to look for it when my destination is California but hehehe... oh well.
[ Kowloon Tong Cafe ]
I looked online and found a place called "Kowloon Tong Cafe" LOLOLLLL... if you know Hong Kong you know how funny this sounds.. xD I ordered the super mango pudding and Kelvin ordered the thai rice in coconut milk sago. It tastes pretty good...
♥♥♥.5 hearts~
[ Mama's ]
We went to Mama's breakfast house~ Apparently it is one of the most popular places for breakfast food according to Yelp! and the Zagat Survey~ There was a long line up and we waited for about 45 minutes before we could go in... very popular haha! ... we don't mind waiting though haha since it is for food xD
Kelvin ordered the Crab Meat Egg Benedict with chocolate milk and i ordered the smoked salmon omelette with fresh grapefruit juice. I hope i don't sound too picky but... the food was just "okay". For the salmon omelette... the salmon was not cooked into the egg so when i ate it the pieces would fall. It did not have too much flavor sadly.. The crab benedict .. did not have too much flavor too.
♥♥ hearts~
[ Acquerello ]
I found this place searching online as well. Acquerello is also on the Zagat survey as one of the top places to eat in San Fran. It is another Italian restaurant ~ I love fine dining hehe~
The service is exceptional. Comparable to all the other fine dining places ^^ The waiters are all very tentative and friendly. We ordered several different dishes to try out ~ We both loved them all but it was so filling haha! To be honest i started getting full after the appetizer "orz The reason why i deducted a heart in the rating was because some of the dishes were a bit too 'heavy'. The desserts that we ordered, though attractive, did not taste up to par with the other dishes unfortunately. Other than that i really cannot say anything bad about the restaurant. The staff was very kind and gave us a bonus treat to take home along with other taste testers throughout the night.
My favourite dish was the "Veal tartare, quail egg, toasted crostini, and truffle ‘caviar’" appetizer. It is similiar to pate. So yummy~
Kelvin ordered the classic tasting menu ~
^ Everything he had was so good! Especially the "Cantina Valle Isarco, Sylvaner Valle Isarco ‘Aristos’ 2010" which is a lobster ravioli. Amazing, so delicious! & also his "Fausto Maculan ‘Torcolato’ 2007" which is a special pasta with fois gras.. super yummy!
♥♥♥♥ hearts~
We went to Ghirardelli Square where we bought a lot of chocolate souvenirs to bring home :) They even had a cafe that sold desserts ...it was so popular that there was a long lineup to get it. Unfortunately we were running low on time and had to pass off dessert.
The next day we ventured through Japan town where we visited "New People".
Main level > Small cafe / coffee shop
Level 1 > Rilakkuma pop-up shop along with Purikura machines in the back
Level 2 > Baby the Stars Shine Bright (A famous lolita brand) & h.Naoto (A famous brand for Visual Kei lovers)
Level 3 /4 > was under construction at that time. One of the staff told me that a Liz Lisa (Famous gyaru brand) pop-up shop would be opening on one of the higher levels sometime in March / April.
Off we go ... back to Portland!
We went downtown to Nordstrom & Nordstrom Rack.
Nordstrom is a popular department store in the US which carries everything from clothes to cosmetics ...and so many shoes haha.
Nordstrom Rack is a seperate store where most items that go "out of season" or sample stuff etc go on sale. It is very much like "Winners" in Canada. Sometimes you can find some really good stuff here. Sometimes even really high-end brands hehe.
I saw this lovely pair of Stuart Weitzman wedges... for $89! What a steal hehe... unfortunately it did not fit me properly so i did not buy it "orz.
OH. MY. GOD. You should have seen my reaction when i picked up these gorgeous pair of...
VALENTINO? ARE YOU SERIOUS???!?
THEY WERE IN MY SIZE!
...
...
...
but still too big for my feet .... QAQ;;
I took a brief clip of my shoe shopping haha... you will see it in my next post TAT;;
